Maun International Airport
Maun International Airport is a vital transportation hub in northern Botswana and serves as the main gateway to the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most sought-after safari destinations. The airport supports a mix of commercial flights, private charters, and general aviation traffic, with airlines such as Air Botswana and Mack Air operating scheduled services to and from major cities like Gaborone, Johannesburg, and Cape Town. Due to its strategic location, the airport experiences high volumes of light aircraft traffic, especially during the safari season, as it facilitates access to remote lodges and wildlife camps spread across the Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, and the greater Ngamiland region.
The airport infrastructure includes a passenger terminal with customs and immigration services for international arrivals, baggage claim areas, check-in counters, car rental offices, and basic amenities such as cafés and a lounge. Significant improvements have been made in recent years to enhance passenger experience and safety, including terminal renovations, better signage, and the addition of airside services. Maun International Airport also supports cargo operations, medevac flights, and aviation training activities. Its close proximity to the town of Maun allows easy access to hotels, tourism operators, banks, and ground transportation, making it a key facilitator of both economic activity and tourism growth in Botswana.
