Bikwe Hike
Bikwe Hike is an annual event in Botswana that promotes a healthy and adventurous lifestyle by connecting participants with the natural beauty of the greater Gaborone area. The event features a 42 km trail starting from the tranquil B111 highway of Boatle to Mmankgodi, allowing hikers to explore valleys, water sources, and the majestic Manyelanong west hill.
The inaugural Bikwe Hike, held on May 25, 2024, attracted over 800 international hikers, including notable figures like Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, a renowned businesswoman and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town. Her participation added inspiration to the event, emphasizing the hike’s focus on health, adventure, and community engagement.
The event not only encourages physical activity but also serves as a platform for brand activation and community involvement. By involving local and international organizations, corporate entities, and government institutions, the Bikwe Hike fosters camaraderie and goodwill among participants, contributing to the branding and development of the village of Bikwe in the greater Gaborone area.
