WestLife Insurance Botswana
WestLife’s funeral cover provides financial assistance for funeral expenses, covering the member, spouse, up to six children, and optionally, four parents. Extended family members can also be included for an additional premium. The cover can be structured as compulsory, where all employees or group members contribute premiums at agreed intervals, or voluntary, allowing individual choice. Compulsory cover is typically more affordable and has no waiting period, while voluntary cover may have a waiting period of 3 to 6 months, depending on the group’s history. Notably, accidental death claims are paid without a waiting period.
WestLife offers Group Credit Life policies that provide coverage equal to the outstanding loan amount, including death, temporary and permanent disability, critical illness, and retrenchment cover. The insured sum decreases in line with the loan balance. This cover is often required by creditors and can be customized based on the group’s needs. For instance, if a borrower becomes permanently disabled, dies, or is diagnosed with a critical illness before the loan is fully repaid, the policy pays the remaining loan amount, excluding any arrears. Additionally, if the borrower faces temporary illness, the policy covers monthly installments for up to six months. Retrenchment cover is also available to cover installments during unemployment for a maximum of six months.
