Travel For Impact
Travel For Impact (TFI) is a social enterprise based in Maun, Botswana, dedicated to fostering positive, sustainable social change by bridging the gap between the tourism industry and local communities. Established in 2014, TFI collaborates with tourism partners to channel resources into community-driven projects, ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach the grassroots level.
Mission and Activities
TFI operates on five key pillars: Culture & Heritage, Children & Youth, Women, Livelihoods Development, and Conservation. By supporting socio-economic development in northwestern Botswana, TFI promotes cultural and heritage ecotourism opportunities, creating jobs and generating income that directly benefits local communities. The organization offers services such as funding, training in product development and business skills, marketing, and logistics to artisans and small businesses, enabling them to access the tourism market effectively.
Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives
Through its Impact Fund, TFI partners with tourism companies to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. One notable initiative is the “1 USD per BedNight” program, where travel partners contribute one US dollar for every guest night booked. These funds are then allocated to vetted community organizations and projects, ensuring sustainable support for local initiatives.
