Rail Park Mall
Location: Gaborone
The mall is in the center of Gaborone, south of the Central Business District. It’s next to the Gaborone bus terminal and the Three Dikgosi Monument event venue. The mall was developed on an 80,000 square meter site that was previously a railway shunting yard. Planning began in June 2009, the groundbreaking ceremony was in September 2010, and the mall opened on October 20, 2011. The total cost of development was P336 million.
The mall was designed to integrate with the railway station and public transport. An overhead bridge crosses the railway to provide access to the mall. The mall has a variety of tenants, including Super Spar, Choppies Hypermarket, restaurants, banks, beauty parlors, liquor, and more. The mall has created over 2,000 jobs and has been a catalyst for growth in the retail, fashion, lifestyle, and leisure sectors. The mall is owned 100% by Botswana Railways.
