Oodi Weavers
Established in 1973 in the heart of Oodi Village, Kgatleng District, Botswana, Oodi Weavers has been creating exceptional woven tapestries for over five decades. We specialize in handcrafted, artistic pieces of any size, composition, or story—including custom designs tailored to your vision.
Our journey began when Swedish couple Ulla and Peder Gowenius founded the project to empower local women through the traditional arts of spinning, dyeing, and weaving. What started as a small community initiative has since blossomed into a thriving women-led cooperative, drawing artisans from Oodi and surrounding villages.
Today, Oodi Weavers is more than a craft collective—it’s a living tapestry of culture, creativity, and economic empowerment. Every piece we produce is rich in color, texture, and meaning—woven by skilled hands and inspired by the stories of our community.
