Nxamaseri Island Lodge - from BWP 8900
Nxamaseri Island Lodge is one of the oldest and most storied camps in the Okavango Delta, established in the early 1980s. Located on a large, forested island in the secluded Nxamaseri Channel, the lodge was purposefully sited after months of exploration for its beauty and tranquility. The design and atmosphere reflect a strong influence of local Botswana culture, combining natural materials with vibrant colours and patterns. As part of the Desert & Delta Safaris portfolio, the lodge plays a unique role within Botswana’s luxury safari circuit, offering both fly-in and self-drive access. Its location near the border with Namibia also makes it a strategic and contrasting stop for travellers en route to Victoria Falls.
Accommodation consists of eight private chalets set under the forest canopy, each with a raised teak deck and private seating area. Activities focus on low-impact and immersive experiences, such as traditional mokoro excursions along the Delta’s waterways, guided island walks, and exceptional birding opportunities throughout the year. Seasonal fishing for tiger fish is a major draw from March to December. A cultural highlight includes visits to the nearby Tsodilo Hills—Botswana’s highest point and a spiritual site for the San people, adorned with thousands of ancient rock paintings. Nxamaseri Island Lodge offers a quiet, reflective environment where nature and culture converge in one of Botswana’s most serene and biologically rich landscapes.
