Malete Land Board
The Malete Land Board is a statutory body in Botswana responsible for managing and administering tribal land within the Balete Tribal Territory, which includes areas such as Ramotswa, Gabane, Otse, Metsimotlhabe, Mogobane, and Modipane. Established in 1972, the board operates under the Tribal Land Act and the Tribal Territories Act, which vest tribal land in Land Boards and grant them the authority to oversee land allocation and management. The board’s primary responsibilities include granting rights to use land for residential, commercial, agricultural, civic, and community purposes; regulating land use to ensure sustainable development and compliance with planning standards; authorizing the transfer of land rights and handling cancellations when necessary; and hearing appeals from subordinate land authorities regarding land matters.
