Typically spanning a total distance of approximately 90 kilometers over two nights, the walk commences from Mosu village, located at the southern edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans. Participants embark on a 45-kilometer trek to the renowned Kubu Island, a granite outcrop adorned with ancient baobab trees. After resting and exploring the island, walkers return to Mosu, completing the remaining 45 kilometers.

The event is organized by YCare, a local non-governmental organization dedicated to raising funds for various charitable initiatives in Botswana. Established with the vision of combining adventure with philanthropy, YCare has been instrumental in promoting community engagement through events like the Makgadikgadi Pans Night Walk.
