Kalahari Desert
The Kalahari Desert is a vast semi-arid sandy savanna that spans several countries in Southern Africa, including Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. Covering approximately 900,000 square kilometers, it is known for its striking landscapes, unique flora and fauna, and rich cultural heritage. Despite being called a desert, the Kalahari supports diverse wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, meerkats, and the indigenous San people, who have adapted to the region’s harsh conditions for thousands of years.
The desert features dramatic red sand dunes, seasonal rivers, and fossilized salt pans, with the Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana being one of its most notable attractions. This pristine wilderness offers incredible safari experiences, showcasing the beauty and resilience of the Kalahari ecosystem.
