Department of Surveys and Mapping

The Department of Surveys and Mapping (DSM) in Botswana, under the Ministry of Lands and Water Affairs, is responsible for surveying, mapping, and managing geospatial data to support land administration, planning, and resource management. Its core functions include establishing a national geodetic control network, conducting cadastral surveys for land registration, producing topographic maps, managing GIS and remote sensing data, providing cartographic services, and coordinating the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) to promote data integration and accessibility across sectors.

• Geodetic Surveying

  • Facilitating access to geospatial data through portals and data-sharing frameworks.
