The Department of Broadcasting Services (DBS) is a department under the Ministry of State President in the Republic of Botswana. Its mandate is to inform, educate, and entertain the nation through the production and dissemination of high-quality radio and television content. DBS plays a pivotal role in national development by promoting government policies, cultural heritage, and public dialogue.

It operates the national broadcaster, including:

  • Radio Botswana (RB1) – a Setswana-language station focused on national unity and development.

  • RB2 – a youth-oriented, English-language station.

  • Botswana Television (BTV) – the national TV station providing news, entertainment, and educational content.

DBS also supports the production, acquisition, commissioning, and archiving of broadcast content. The department strives to uphold media professionalism, public service values, and technological innovation in its operations.
