CEDA
The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) is a pivotal institution dedicated to fostering the growth of citizen-owned enterprises in Botswana. Established by the government, CEDA emerged as a response to the insights gained from the National Conference on Citizen Economic Empowerment (NCCEE) in 1999 and the 4th Evaluation of the Financial Assistance Policy (FAP) in 2000. These evaluations underscored the need for robust support systems to enhance citizen entrepreneurship, which had been identified as lacking among many Batswana.
CEDA provides comprehensive financial and technical support aimed at promoting viable and sustainable business ventures owned by citizens. By offering loans and consolidating economic empowerment schemes, CEDA plays a crucial role in nurturing a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. Through its initiatives, CEDA not only facilitates business development but also contributes to the broader economic empowerment of citizens, aligning with the nation’s goals for inclusive economic growth and self-reliance.
