Botswana National Art Gallery
The Botswana National Museum and Art Gallery, established in 1967 and officially opened in 1968, is a multidisciplinary institution located in Gaborone, Botswana. It encompasses the National Art Gallery, the Octagon Gallery, and, since November 2007, the National Botanical Garden. The museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing Botswana’s rich cultural and natural heritage, featuring traditional crafts, paintings, and contemporary artworks that highlight the talents of local artists. Additionally, the institution plays a vital role in the preservation of significant sites such as Tsodilo, Botswana’s first World Heritage area, and manages Tsholofelo Park, the burial site of “El Negro,” whose remains were repatriated from Spain.
