Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI)

The Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation (BITRI) is a government-owned research and development institution under the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology. BITRI was established to conduct research, identify and adapt technologies, and create solutions for the pressing needs of Botswana and the region, with the aim of promoting sustainable development through innovation.

BITRI focuses on a range of research areas including energy, ICT, nanotechnology, water, and materials science. The institute plays a vital role in developing home-grown technologies and solutions, thereby driving Botswana’s transformation into a knowledge-based economy.
