The United Nations Office in Gaborone serves as the central coordination hub for the United Nations system in Botswana and is led by the UN Resident Coordinator. It hosts and supports several UN agencies, funds, and programmes operating in the country, working in partnership with the Government of Botswana to advance national development priorities. The office coordinates UN efforts in areas such as sustainable development, health, governance, social protection, humanitarian support, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
