The Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) is a populist political party in Botswana founded in July 2019 as a breakaway group from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
Since its formation, the BPF has positioned itself as an alternative voice in Botswana’s political landscape, advocating for reforms in key public sectors such as healthcare, housing, education, and economic development. The party’s manifesto has included promises to build affordable homes, introduce comprehensive health insurance, strengthen constitutional and electoral reform, and support technological and agricultural innovation.
The BPF first contested national elections in 2019, winning several parliamentary seats, primarily in the Central District, where its appeal is strong due to historic local support tied to its founders and their community roots. It has continued to maintain a presence nationally, including multiple Members of Parliament and local councillors, and has played a visible role in national political debates and opposition politics.
